Perognathus inornatus, the San Joaquin Pocket Mouse is found throughout the San Joaquin and Salinas valleys, and sparsely into the Sacramento Valley. CDFW (Nov 2020) lists the subspecies P. i. inornatus [eastern side of San Joaquin Valley] and P. i. psammophilus [Salinas Valley]) as SSC. The species is listed as Senstive by the BLM. The conservation status of these subspecies is based on loss of critical habitat.
